You may secure the room at our rate of $209 (King Room) and $219 (Double Queen) by reserving under our room block – Miss Juneteenth Pageant Program – The Maynard 4 Foundation. PARKING OPTIONS
Valet parking is available at the hotel, and attendants can assist upon check-in at the property. Self-parking is also available in the parking garage across from the Dauphin Street entrance. The parking garage is located at 8 S. Water Street, Mobile, Alabama 36602, and is attached to the Riverview Plaza Hotel. No parking fees are covered by the Foundation and are also the responsibility of the parent/guardian. You are also welcome to secure other parking in the general vicinity that may work best for you. Please be sure to plan ahead.

Shamonee Baker was born and raised in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. In the spring of 2022, she graduated from Florida A&M University where she received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism with Magna Cum Laude honors. Shortly after graduation, she began her journey as a news reporter at WKRG News 5 in Mobile, Alabama. She is now the Co-anchor of News 5 this Morning.
In 2023, Shamonee spearheaded an initiative to give back to FAMU journalism students through a $1,000 scholarship called “Creators of The Future.” Shamonee is also a member of the Sigma Omicron Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Pageant Keynote Speaker
Presentation Topic: “Digging into Your Future.”
Dr. Jones is an education leader focused on community outreach and service. She completed her Ph.D. in Historical Archaeology at the University of California, Berkeley in 2010. Her work focuses on African diaspora archaeology, community archaeology and archaeology outreach. Jones has been an archaeology educator for more than 16 years with an aim to make archaeological knowledge accessible to all.
She also worked as Field Director of Archaeology for the PBS television show, Time Team America, where she directed field schools for middle school and high school students at different archaeological sites around the United States. Her current research projects are the Estate Little Princess Archaeological Project in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and the Morningstar Tabernacle No.88 Moses Cemetery in Cabin John, Montgomery County, Maryland. Dr. Jones serves as the President-Elect for the Society of Black Archaeologists, the Chair for the US Cultural Property Advisory Committee, the Board of Directors of the St. Croix Archaeological Society, and is an Academic Trustee for the Archaeological Institute of America.

Presentation Topic: “Get Motivated, Stay Dedicated: Walking Your Path of Purpose.”
Brianna Burrell is a native of Mobile, AL, a graduate of the University of South Alabama with degrees in Political Science and Philosophy, and just finished serving as Miss Alabama 2023 of the Miss America Organization. At South, Brianna was recognized on the Dean’s List, was selected as Black Student Union Director of the Year, and was involved in student government and numerous other honor societies and organizations. This past January, Brianna competed at Miss America, taking home an Evening Gown Preliminary Award and Scholarship, 50 new friends, and life-long memories. She is now enrolled at the University of Alabama on a full ride scholarship obtaining her Master of Education in Instructional Technology!
Brianna’s community service initiative is SAVE-A-STEM: encouraging STEM engagement in students of color and underfunded schools. She has been honored as a Girls in STEM volunteer, the STEM Sports USA Influencer of the Month, received proclamations of exemplary community service from the Alabama House of Representatives, and Boys & Girls Club of Alabama Mentor of the Year for her work in STEM fields. Brianna has also written a children’s book entitled, “Investigation Nation: Who Made It? Exploring Diversity in the World of STEM.”
