The Maynard 4 Foundation is proud to announce Ms. Veda Robbins, RN, BSN as one of our three judges for the 2024 Miss Juneteenth America Scholarship Pageantry Program!

Veda is a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. She is a former Realtor as well as a Registered Nurse who specialized in Neonatal Intensive Care and leadership in Case Management at two of the local hospitals in Mobile, AL. She obtained her Associate of Science in Nursing from Bishop State Community College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University. Caring and humanitarianism is essential in nursing and is so easily a necessary prerequisite for community work.

Veda was brought more deeply into community activism as a subject in the Netflix documentary Descendant, which chronicles the story of Africatown from past to present. Her ancestral link as a descendant of enslaved Africans aboard Clotilda, the last documented slave ship to land in the U.S. fuels her passion to work as a Restorative Economics Community Organizer to reimagine Africatown as a thriving residential community and to advocate for environmental justice.

Registration is now open for the 2025 Miss Juneteenth America Scholarship Pageantry Program!

The registration deadline is October 31, 2024
