Kendra Dickson Hudson is a Senior Instructor and the Clinic Coordinator in Speech Pathology at the University of South Alabama. With a deep-rooted commitment to helping others find their voice, she is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of speech-language pathologists through evidence-based teaching methods and hands-on clinical experience.
With 32 years of experience in the field of speech pathology, she has worked in public schools and university settings, specializing in disorders of articulation/phonology, child language, fluency, autism, and adult dysphagia. Her journey in academia began 2002, where she has had the privilege of teaching undergraduates, mentoring graduate students, providing assessment and intervention, and coordinating clinic assignments in the graduate program. She is proud of the growth of the program and students, as well as the community engagement of the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology and the Speech and Hearing Center.
Kendra earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science Disorders and Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from University of Montevallo. Her early experience in the schools of Jefferson County, AL and Rankin County, MS led to an interest in clinical education that inspired her desire to work at the university. This academic journey has equipped her with the knowledge and skills to effectively educate and inspire future speech-language pathologists. She believes in the transformative power of communication and is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with communication disorders
Beyond the classroom and clinic, Kendra is deeply passionate about youth advocacy/mentoring, community outreach, and community service. She is a member of Stewart Memorial C.M.E. Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated., and the Associates of Jack and Jill Incorporated.
