Erin Hammond, Junior Miss Juneteenth America Class of 2026 participant, brings academic curiosity, service, creativity, and leadership to the Miss Juneteenth America Scholarship Pageantry Program.
As a young leader from Mobile, Alabama, she represents the next generation carrying Juneteenth as American history forward through education, purpose, and perseverance.
A student at Davidson High School, Erin demonstrates enthusiasm for learning, dedication to service, and a growing commitment to leadership — qualities that reflect the heart of the Miss Juneteenth America experience.

Erin is currently an 9th grade student enrolled in the IB and EPIC academic programs at Davidson High School, where she challenges herself through advanced coursework including:
- Honors French
- World History
- Biology
- Algebra
These courses encourage Erin to strengthen her study habits, expand her critical thinking, and continue building the academic foundation that will support her future career goals.
Leadership Through School Activities
At Davidson High School, Erin actively participates in several organizations that allow her to grow as a leader and collaborate with her peers.

- Mobile County Public School Honor Band (selected two consecutive years)
- Four Solo and Ensemble medals for alto saxophone performance

As part of the Miss Juneteenth America experience, each participant selects a Dream HBCU, celebrating the powerful connection between education, heritage, and leadership.
Erin’s Dream HBCU is Jackson State University in Mississippi, a university known for academic excellence, cultural legacy, and leadership development.
During the Scholarship & Legacy Banquet in Mobile, Alabama, Dream HBCUs are honored alongside participants as they celebrate the next chapter of their educational journey.
Guided by Faith and Perseverance
Erin draws inspiration from a Bible verse that reflects her determination and faith:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
This verse motivates her to persevere through challenges, maintain a strong work ethic, and stay focused on achieving her goals.
A Future in Healthcare
Looking ahead, Erin hopes to become a general practice family physician, dedicating her career to improving health outcomes and providing accessible care for individuals and families.
Scholarship funds earned through the Miss Juneteenth America program will support leadership training opportunities that strengthen her skills in leadership, critical thinking, and service — preparing her for the future she hopes to build.
Supporting a Hunger-Free Gulf Coast
Erin’s nonprofit organization of choice is Feeding the Gulf Coast, an organization dedicated to combating hunger across South Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle by providing nutritious food and essential resources to families in need.
Through this connection, Erin hopes to continue supporting efforts that address hunger and strengthen communities across the region.
Continuing the Story of Leadership in Mobile
In June 2026, Erin will join participants from across the country in Mobile, Alabama, where they will take part in cultural heritage experiences, leadership workshops, and scholarship opportunities.
From the Dora Franklin Finley Heritage Trail Tour to the Second Line Parade and the Scholarship & Legacy Banquet, each experience reflects the deeper purpose of the Miss Juneteenth America Scholarship Pageantry Program — honoring heritage while preparing the next generation of leaders.
