Let’s get to know Kamryn!

Q: Why do you want to be crowned Junior Miss Juneteenth America or Teen Miss Juneteenth America?

A: I want to be crowned Miss Juneteenth America because this important holiday doesn’t get the attention it deserves. June 19, 1865, that last of the slaves were notified of their freedom, and that is something we all should celebrate and commemorate. I can use my platforms to educate and promote our rich history including Black Emancipation and beyond.

Q: How would you serve as a role model as the crowned Junior Miss Juneteenth America or Teen Miss Juneteenth America?

A: I am already a role model to my younger cousins, youth department at my church, and other students at my school and within my community. This is a role I take very seriously because many are influenced by negative social culture. If I am crowned Teen Miss Juneteenth America I would represent my culture by continuing to be the outgoing, open minded, empath that I am. I will share the messages and history of our people to all who will listen and back down from those that challenge our existence.

Q: What is the key to success?

A: The key to me is perseverance, passion, hard work, continuous learning, adaptability, and maintaining a positive attitude.

Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?

A: My proudest accomplishment is being able to live out my dream of being on television while still doing full time school.

Q: What charity did you select and why?

A: The charity Iselected was AVPride. The mission of the Association of Village PRIDE, Inc. is to encourage young people to make smart choices that lead to persistence and success as aware, useful, and contributing members of society. I have been volunteering with AVPride for the past 3 years, serving on their teen community service group, South Atlanta Youth Alliance (SAYA).

Q: How do you plan to use your scholarship?

A: This scholarship will be used to go towards pursuing my dreams of attending college at Howard University or Alabama State University. I want to attend college with it being a financial burden to my parents and without putting debt on myself.
